"My great concern is not whether you have failed but whether you are content with your failure." ~Abraham Lincoln
Failure is not a new concept. Failure has traveled throughout the ages. Year by year, the failure has only gotten worse. Nobody can say that they have never failed. Failure is inevitable. Although failure is something that is going to happen to everyone, we all have the choice as to how we handle it.
Even Abraham Lincoln spoke on failure. He knew that everyone was going to fail, but he only cared about whether or not you were content with it. One may not be at peace with themself unless they are able to accept that they fail.
Accepting failure can be a good thing, but also a bad thing. It all depends on their attitude. One may accept failure and be okay with that. But one may not be able to accept their failure as easily as others. We all must be able handle failure if we want to go far in life.
How else do you think people can accept their failure?
Accepting Failure
By living a mediocre life, you accept failure.

Why?
I just don't understand it. Why would someone want to live a mediocre life when they could have it so much better? Why would you live without knowing the great feeling of learning from your mistakes? If you make a mistake, try and pick yourself up. Do not just accept the fact that you aren't going to succeed. For once, try and make something of yourself. Do not just live in the shadows of your peers. That is the most ridiculous thing a person can do. Live your own life and learn from your mistakes. Accepting failure is just a stepping stone to moving foward to conquer failure. As soon as you accept your failure, you will be able to start learning from your small mistakes. And from there, you will understand how to overcome the big mistakes in your life. I believe that you will be a happier person if you can learn to accept your failure. Accepting failure has its up's and down's, but I feel that it will lead to even greater things, don't you?

Failure in Sports
Michael Jordan once said "I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying." Jordan is an iconic NBA basketball player. Absolutely everyone in the United States knows who he is. Even he, who some may say is the greatest basketball player to have ever, can be a failure. He did not always make every shot he put up. He failed his team, his coach, and his family multiple times. I'm not trying to tell you that he was not a good player. I'm trying to tell you that he failed too. Just like you and I do every day of our lives. Failure is a normal occurance in life. Failure just happens.
"In order to excel, you must be completely dedicated to your chosen sport. You must also be prepared to work hard and be willing to accept constructive criticism. Without a total 100 percent dedication, you won't be able to do this." This quote came from the legendary baseball player, Willie Mays. Mays was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1979. Mark Field says that he is "the best who ever played the game." Although Mays was a huge success, he knew that he must be able to take the criticism that he got from his coaches. He knew he was going to fail every so often, and he accepted that. He took the failure as something constructive, something that was going to help him better his game. He hit his failure out of the park, by learning to overcome it and say, failure just happens.
"I had affairs. I cheated. What I did is not acceptable and I am the only person to blame," Tiger Woods recently said. Woods was once the best golfer in the world. His personal life soon turned this into a statement that was no longer true. Woods was found to have cheated on his wife in 2009. Ever since then, his golf game has taken a turn for the worst. Woods in now ranked eighth in the World. Woods let his personal life affect his game, one of the worst things a golfer can do. All of this is happening but Woods is doing everything he can to overcome this failure. He is now out of his marraige with Elin Nordegren and is focusing on his golf game. He has not been playing his best but he is trying his hardest and that is all anyone can ask of him. Again, failure just happens.

Acknowledging Failure
How often do you fail? Most people fail more often than they realize. The reason that most people don't realize their failure is because they accept it so quickly and move on. They do not take the time to realize what failures they are making on a daily basis. When doing so, they learn to move on. Failure does not matter to them, so they simply accept it.
Michael Jordan once said, "I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying." Even one of the most famous athletes will accept failure on occasion. Everyone accepts failure. There are different kinds of failure though. There are small failures, forgetting to do your chores, and large failures, having cancer and dying from it.
In Jodi Picoults, My Sister's Keeper, she writes about how the protaganist, Kate, is dying from cancer. Although her mother does not see it, Kate is accepting the fact that she has been diagnosed with leukemia and that she will soon die. Kate sees how her disease is tearing her family apart and knows that when she is gone that there will not be as much fighting within the family. She is ready to die because she knows that she eventually will.
No matter how big or small the failure, we all make them. Some people strive to overcome them and learn from them. Others let their failure bring themselves down. This blog shows how people accept failure. They move on from it, with no real disturbance on their daily life.
